Grief and Islam When Someone You Love Passes Away
Fatima Noor

Give yourself permission to grieve. Suppressing pain does not speed healing and can harden the heart.
Say what benefits the deceased: sincere dua, sadaqah jariyah, and Quran recitation gifted to them.
Accept meals and company. The community exists for this moment. Let people serve you even if pride resists.
Avoid major decisions in the first weeks. Grief clouds judgment.
Remember that love does not end at death. Dua keeps the bond alive in a way the world cannot see but the soul feels.
