Preparing for Qiyam al-Layl Without Burning Out
Yusuf Rahman

Stories of the righteous waking before Fajr inspire us, but jumping from zero to two hours of tahajjud can wreck your sleep and your mood.
Begin with two rakahs after waking for water. That is still qiyam. Let the habit form before you extend it.
Sleep earlier when possible. Night prayer requires a body that is rested enough to stand with focus.
Keep wudu before bed as the Prophet did. It is a small act that prepares the soul for waking in a clean state.
Make dua for sincerity. Standing at night for show empties the reward. Ask Allah to make your prayer solely for Him.
