Ramadan Meal Planning Without the Waste and the 2 a.m. Panic

Ramadan brings generosity, and sometimes that generosity lands on the table as six dishes when two would have been enough. There is nothing wrong with celebrating, but many families feel exhausted by the middle of the month.
Plan two anchor meals for the week and rotate sides. Soup, dates, and a main dish can carry most evenings. Save elaborate cooking for weekends or guest nights.
Prep suhoor items the night before. Overnight oats, boiled eggs, and cut fruit remove decision fatigue when you are half awake.
Involve children in simple tasks. Setting the table or filling water bottles teaches service without turning them into kitchen managers.
Remember the spirit of moderation. The Prophet, peace be upon him, encouraged eating in a way that leaves room for worship and reflection. A lighter iftar often means a more peaceful night.
