What Khushu Really Means in Salah and How to Grow It Slowly

Many Muslims worry about distraction in prayer. The mind wanders to groceries, deadlines, and conversations from an hour ago. That experience is common, and it does not mean your salah is worthless.

Khushu begins with learning the meaning of what you recite. Even one surah understood deeply can change how Fajr feels. Read a simple translation of Al-Fatiha and pause on each verse for a week.

Slow your movements slightly. Rushing through rakahs often follows a rushed heart. Give your body time to settle between positions.

Make dua specifically for focus. The companions asked for help with this too. Asking Allah for presence in prayer is itself an act of worship.

Finally, protect the moments before salah. A quick wudu without checking your phone, a quiet corner, and a few breaths can prepare you better than any lecture on concentration.
