Essential Duas for Daily Life: Connecting with the Creator

Daily prophetic duas are a way to walk through the day under Allah’s name: waking, dressing, eating, leaving the house, entering the mosque, facing fear, and sleeping. They are short. They are sourced. They do not replace the five prayers. They dress the five prayers in remembrance so that the gaps between salah are not empty. This article explains why daily adhkar matter, how to start without collecting fifty booklets, and a core set you can actually use. Check Arabic from a reliable book such as Hisn al-Muslim with a teacher if you can. English here is explanation, not a replacement for the revealed or prophetic wording.

See the power of dua, four Quranic duas, and Duas.

Why the morning and evening adhkar exist

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught protections for the morning and evening: Ayat al-Kursi, the last three surahs, and other authentic phrases collected by the scholars of dhikr. These are not charms that work without iman. They are worship. You say them because Allah and His Messenger taught you to seek refuge with Allah, not with objects and superstition.

A day without dhikr is a day the nafs and Shaytan speak more. A day with a few authentic lines is a day you have taken a means. Means do not force Qadar. They are obedience.

A minimum daily set

If you are a beginner, do not download twenty apps. Take this minimum for two weeks:

  • After each fard: the well-known tasbih (33, 33, 34) as in the sahih hadith, or the wording your teacher prefers from the authentic options.
  • Morning and evening: Ayat al-Kursi (Quran 2:255) and the three Quls.
  • Before eating: “Bismillah.” If you forget, the wording in Sahih Muslim about saying Bismillah at the beginning and the end.
  • Entering the home and leaving: the authentic duas of entering and leaving, which include asking for barakah and protection from Shaytan.
  • Before sleep: Ayat al-Kursi as in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah in Sahih al-Bukhari regarding protection.

When this is stable, add the dua of leaving the house, riding, and distress. Growth is adding, not replacing the five prayers with dhikr-only Islam.

Dua when you are afraid or sad

The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught words for anxiety, including asking Allah who is over the heavens to protect from the evil in the earth, in reports used in the books of adhkar. He taught that no one is afflicted and says a known istirja‘ and dua of patience except Allah will compensate him, as in Sahih Muslim. Learn “Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.” Use it in real fear, not as a joke.

Do not turn dhikr into a business of unverified chains

If a message says “forward this dua or harm will come,” delete it. That is not how the Sunnah works. If a dua has no known source, do not treat it as required. You may ask Allah in your language. You may not invent a numbered ritual and ascribe it to the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Frequently asked questions

I do not know Arabic. Can I still do adhkar?

Learn the short ones in Arabic with a teacher or a slow recording. Use translation to know what you say. Do not delay all dhikr until your accent is perfect.

Women in menses and dhikr

Dhikr and dua remain. Recitation of Quran has detailed rulings. Ask. Do not cut yourself off from Allah’s remembrance.

And Allah knows best.
